Legends of the Hot Curl Introduction to the eBooklet This 30,252 word chapter tells the story of the Hot Curl surfers, beginning in the 1930s and going on into the 1950s.  Much of the material is taken from personal interviews I’ve had with Hot Curl surfers Woody Brown, Wally Froiseth, Fran Heath and Russ Takaki.  Some of these interviews were later published, in edited form, in The Surfer’s Journal and Longboard  magazines. Special thanks go out to Wally Froiseth, Fran Heath, The Surfer’s Journal , Doc Ball, Gary Lynch,  and Bud Browne  for the use of images to accompany the text.
